Rosa Crockett Obituary

Rosa M. Crockett, 88, of 10801 Old Stage Road, Prince George, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, departed this life Aug. 28, 2010, at the Hopewell Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Hopewell.

She was a lifelong resident of Prince George County. Rosa accepted Christ at an early age and became a faithful and dedicated member of Mount Hope Baptist Church. As a member of the church she participated in the #2 Choir, Flower Club, Pastor's Aid, Missionary, and Nurses Unit where she served as treasurer. Rosa worked for the families of Homer Eliades and Robert Saunders as a domestic engineer for many years.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Otelia Crockett; her son, Larry W.; and five siblings.

Left to cherish her memory is a very devoted son, Homer L. Crockett (Carol P.); and devoted daughters, Carrie E. Crockett of Prince George, Patricia C. Allen (Roger) and Mary E. Crockett of Hopewell; a twin sister, Minerva Smith of Hampton; a sister-in-law, Maggie Crockett of Prince George; five grandchildren, Justine Crockett-Byrd, Stephanie Green, Chantelle Crockett (Brian), Crystal and Ashley Crockett; five great-grandchildren, CaRhee Watts, Omar Crockett, Jordan Byrd, Kira Green and David Clowney V; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Dear friends include Ruby Lee Jones, Josephine White, Mary Lou Charlotte, Hannah Evans, Wayne Watson, Robert Wyche, Junior Person and the Rev. William N. Bland Jr.

A special thanks goes to the nurses of Care Advantage and nurses of the Hopewell Convalescent Center.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at the Mount Hope Baptist Church, Prince George; the Rev. A. Carl Prince, pastor, and eulogy by the Rev. William N. Bland Jr. Interment will be in Mount Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, from 7 to 8 Thursday evening.

On behalf of the Jones family, I would like to express our sincere sympathy for the loss of your loved one. The hills were getting harder to climb but God saw her struggles and called her home. She is at rest now. May God bless you all and just remember that God is still God all by himself.

Ms. Rosa was an inspiration to me. She was a dedicated and faithful servant for the LORD. Her kind, generous, and loving spirit always uplifted me and others. I am so thankful to have had her in my life. Please accept my sincere condolences and know that God will bring you through.

We are sincerely sorry to hear of the passing of your dear mother, only a year ago we sat where you all are sitting now, we can truly sympathize with you on the passing of your mom. Mothers are very special people and I know she is very special to all of you. We pray you will find comfort in knowing that God will give you peace during this time and the days to come. You truly will be comforted by the many memories of her.
