Rurick Pittman is, was, and always will be my Grandpa. I always thought it was cool that he was so much younger than everyone else's Grandpa. Because of that I had a Grandpa for 52 years. I remember Grandpa when he was younger than I am now. When I was a little boy I use to spend a week or so with him in the summer. He would come home from work and we would walk a few blocks to a garden that he kept. He would tell me about how plants grew and what you needed to do have a good garden. I was amazed at what he knew how to do. He could fix or make anything. Long after everyone else was done with something, he could get it working again. His life was like that. Long after everyone else was done he just kept going and going. What an example of determination and perseverance. One that will serve us all well as we go forward from today. Good bye Grandpa. You will always be in our memories and our hearts.
