Susie Coleman-Brown Obituary

On Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, God in all its infinite wisdom decided it was time for one of His angels to return home. Mrs. Susie F.V. Coleman-Brown, a long-time resident of Hopewell, passed away at John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell.

Susie was born on July 2, 1948, to the late Helen Coleman-Daniels and Charles Wheeler Jr. She was preceded in death by two children, Donnett Coleman and Lawrence "Duck" Brown; maternal grandparents, Edward and Eleanor Coleman; and her paternal grandparents, Charles Sr. and Virgie Wheeler. Susie was also an active member of Holy Trinity Church, Hopewell, until declining health.

Susie is survived by five children, Marcus Brown Sr. (Barbara), Renard Brown, Rechelle Brown, Natasha Brown and Natalie Brown; two brothers, John Daniels (Vickie) and Timothy Daniels; a sister, Betty Alston; 13 grandchildren, Latoya, Jamette, Marcus Jr., Mario, Jasmine, LaQuinta, Nasi-jar, Da'Nehemiah, Z'Aire and Carmello Brown, and Darius Jefferson, Dominique Jones and Brandel Spriggs; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends, among them devoted, Ms. Tilda Holloway, Mrs. Josephine Holloway, Mrs. Elsie Sutton, Ronald Pinkston, Queenie Jordan and Ida Bowles.

A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday from the Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Hopewell. The Rev. William Roberts, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Sinai Community Cemetery, Prince George. The family will receive friends and assemble for the funeral at the residence of her daughter, Rechelle Brown, 4114 Robert E. Lee Drive, Hopewell.
