Suzanne Stigall Obituary

Suzanne W. Stigall, 60, of DeWitt, Va., passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennie and Austin Wood, and nephew, Tyson Wood.

Suzanne is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jerry; her son, Chris (Amber, Dalton, Riley, Jaxson); and her granddaughter, Reece; her sister, Evelyn Hinant (John); her brother, Ken Wood (Reese); her mother-in-law, Sarah; her sister-in-law, Barbara; her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephew, Amy, Melissa, Shannon, Travis, Daniel, Malory, and Liam; along with many other relatives and friends.

Suzanne worked for VDOT since 2001 and was a RBA for the Petersburg residency. She loved her job and the people she worked with. Suzanne loved to spend time with her family, travel, cook and work on her family ancestry book. She so looked forward to her trip to town every two weeks with her favorite girls, Oma and Louise.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Road, Blackstone, Va. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Hawkins Memorial Presbyterian Church with refreshments following in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Va. The family would like to thank everyone at the Crater Community Hospice for their service, concern and devotion to their patients. A special thank you to Hortense, Jennifer, Tina, Tracy, Grace and Cherry.

To all of Suzanne's family, My prayers and love are with you all. Suzanne is such a special person, she made me feel like one of the family. I will miss her deeply, but look forward to meeting her in our final home someday.
