Mr. Sylvester Parham, 65, of Emporia, Va., departed this life on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at his residence. He was born on Aug. 6, 1947, to the late Ruth Parham Pegram in Dinwiddie County, Va. At an early age, he confessed Christ and became a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church, Stony Creek, Va.

Sylvester was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Parham Pegram; and sister, Patricia Ann Pegram. He was very active in family gatherings, loving hearted and devoted husband, father, and friend. Sylvester will be truly missed by his family and all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memories, Joyce S. Parham, his wife; two daughters, Maury (Jerry) Parham of Emporia, Va., and Angela Harvell Cutler of Petersburg, Va. three granddaughters, Amanda Forbes of Emporia, Va., Angel and Mynia Cutler of Petersburg, Va.; two brothers, James M. Parham (Vanessa) of Dinwiddie, and Timothy P. Pegram of Petersburg; one uncle, Jessie L. Parham (Eunice) of Stony Creek; three aunts, Elsie Brown, and Edith Parham, both of Stony Creek, and Ellen Walker of Dinwiddie; two sisters-in-law, Sharon S. Jones and Cynthia S. Pride of Stony Creek; two brothers-in-law, Lester Scott of Richmond, Va., and Lawrence C. Pride Sr. of Stony Creek; one devoted niece, Sonya Pride-Shaw (Wayne) of Chesterfield, Va.; one devoted nephew, Lawrence (Carol) Pride Jr. of Chesterfield, Va.; and numerous cousins and friends.
A home going service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday April 8, 2013, at the Little Bethel Baptist Church, Stony Creek, with the pastor, the Rev. David L. Banks Sr., officiating. Burial will commence at the Pegram Family Cemetery, Stony Creek. Viewing will be held on Sunday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
