During her life time, she participated in the Special Olympics and enjoyed competing in several events. At an early age she confessed Christ and joined the Mount Level Baptist Church, where she sang in the Chancellor Choir for many years. She loved people and would always give someone an encouraging word.

Towanda was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Deacon Roy and Katie Bolling Greenwood; an uncle, Oscar Greenwood; maternal grandparents: Linnie and Carrie Pegram; and uncles, Frank and Wilfred Pegram.

She leaves to cherish precious memories of her a loving and devoted daughter, Charlinda Romecia Greenwood; her father, Charles E. Greenwood (Nancy); eight aunts, Mae Frances Rhodes, Beatrice G. Ellis (William), Phyllis G. Jones (Leroy), godparents and aunt, Constance G. Johnson (Ronald) of DeWitt, Alisare G. Fitzgerald (Donnie) of Woodbridge, Va., Margaret Bonner of Petersburg, Mary Pegram of Maryland, and Sylvia Pegram of N. Chesterfield; a great-aunt, Virginia Pegram of DeWitt; and a great-uncle, Allie Greenwood of Peekskill, N.Y.; and a host of devoted cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the Mount Level Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, with the pastor, the Rev. Bernard Coleman, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the residence of her cousins, Rudolph Jr. and Katrice Jones, 15608 Keelers Mill Road, DeWitt (469-3210), and Anthony and Delzoria Ellis Manson, 16625 Hamilton Arms Road, DeWitt (469-7836). The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at the funeral home in McKenney.
