A Time to Be Born
On April 21, 1951, God presented a beautiful little angel by the name of Valeria Francis Henderson to Willie and Rosa Henderson.
A Time for Salvation
Valeria accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Petersburg. She was baptized at Bloomfield Baptist Church in Wilsons, Va.
A Time to Be With the Lord
On Tuesday, March 19, 2013, Valeria Francis Henderson was ushered into the presence of the Lord. Valeria was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Rosa Henderson; and one brother, Tyrone Avon Henderson.
A Time to Plant in God's Vineyard
Valeria, affectionately known as Lil' Bit to her family and friends, was a beautician for 32 years, having worked with Mattie's Hair Fashions, Unisex Barber Shop, La Chic, Annetta's Hair Salon, and Central State Hospital. She was also employed with The Crossing at Ironbridge (formerly Bon Secours) for eight years as a CNA medical technician.
A Time to Mourn
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Royal Russell Henderson of Emporia, Va.; two daughters, Tanisha Pope of Matoaca, Va., and Ashley Henderson of Ettrick, Va.; one sister, Paulette Henderson-Tyson (Rudy) of Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Willie "Bobo" Henderson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Freddie Henderson of Orlando, Fla.; one aunt, Louise Hollimon of Chester, Va.; and one uncle, Paul Griffin Jr. (Dorothy) of Manassas, Va.; six grandchildren, Crystal Henderson, Royal Henderson, Devon Martell, DaSean Pope, NaTeka Pope, Xavier Mabry; Dyzire Henderson, Allyaha Henderson, and Devon Jackson Jr.; one great-grandson, Issac Cameron; and godmother, Ail Parham.
In her last months, Valeria was surrounded in love by devoted family and friends, among them, Karen Fuller (caretaker), Joyce Hicks, Fran Mena, Kenneth Pope Sr., Johna Vazquez, and staff of Heartland Hospice Care.
A funeral service for Mrs. Valeria F. Henderson will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson, 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Kim White, pastor of Bloomfield Baptist Church, Wilsons, Va., eulogist. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
