Mrs. Valeria L. Parham Young, 62, of Waverly, departed this life Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. She was born on April 15, 1950, to the late Alfred C. Parham and Dorothy Smith Parham.

She leaves behind: two daughters, Robin Young of Waverly, and Rosalyn Young of Hopewell; three adorable grandchildren, Ashley, Marion and Marvin, all of Hopewell; ex-husband, James Young; four sisters, Porita Sawyer (Harvey) of Chesterfield, Althea Hughes of Hopewell, Vanessa Parham of Chesterfield, and Carlethea Greenhill of Greenbelt, Md.; four nieces, Anitra Lewis (Falando) of Baltimore, Md., Tanesha Sawyer of Chesterfield, Kayla Greenhill of Greenbelt, Md., and Angel Hughes of Hopewell; one nephew, Jontá Parham of Chesterfield; one great-niece; one great-nephew; four aunts; two uncles; three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and a host of cousins; other relatives; and friends among them, devoted Wanda Santana, Juanita Taylor and Angie Gray Cheilchani, all of Waverly.
A service of love and remembrance for Ms. Valeria L. Young will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2013, at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, the Rev. Edward Young, eulogist.
