Veronica Tyler Obituary

Veronica Denise Tyler (Woody), of 1321 Driftwood Drive, Charleston, S.C., departed this life Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at Medical University of South Carolina.

Veronica was born Aug. 14, 1971, to the late Gladys Tyler and Bubba Blakes in Petersburg, Va. Veronica was a hard-working, considerate person who always kept you laughing. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Tyler, and two aunts, Lorine Tyler and Amedine Thomas.

Left to cherish her memories are her three daughters, Yolanda, Shamika and Jasmine Tyler; three sons, Stephen Nelson Jr., Gerald Green and Javon "Donald" Tyler, all of Charleston, S.C.; two grandchildren, Cameron Tyler and Kazaria Brown of Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Jowanda Tyler of Richmond; three brothers, Thomas Williams, John Tyler of Petersburg, and William Tyler (Tracey) of Hopewell; the grandparents of her children, Rubin and Nathalee Nelson of Charleston, S.C.; eight aunts, Gayle Sykes, Cathy Pender, Carol Butler, Burnette Blakes, Christine Dabney (Fred), Evelyn Hayes (Charles), Shirley Pearson and Burnadette Jones; one uncle, Joseph Blakes Sr., all of Petersburg; close friend, Dana Nelson of Charleston S.C., and Stephen Nelson; a host of nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, in the Chapel of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home.
