Mr. William A. Batts Jr., formerly of Petersburg, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at Summit View of Farragut, Knoxville, Tenn.

He was the son of the late Rev. William A. Batts Sr. and Mary Newell Batts of Petersburg. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Robert and Harry.

Other than his immediate family, he leaves to cherish his memories, three brothers, John Batts (Lenora), Samuel Batts (Roslyn) and Emanuel Batts, all of Petersburg; three sisters, Laura Rowe and Mary Harwell, both of Petersburg, and Nancy Scott of Emporia, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Marion Batts of Petersburg and Annie Batts of Lynchburg; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services for William A. Batts Jr. will be held at noon Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Jarnigan & Son Mortuary, 2823 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Knoxville, Tenn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Inc., East Tennessee Office, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
