Mr. William Fisher Sr., 89, of 1426 Talley Ave., Petersburg, departed this life on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Fisher was born on Nov. 6, 1922, to the late Dunn and Adelle Robertson.

Professionally, he was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a machine operator for Brown & Williamson.

Mr. Fisher was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Sutherland.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Winbush Fisher; brothers, Bernard, Johnny and Pete Fisher.

Surviving are: son, William O. Fisher Jr. (Phyllis) of Petersburg; daughter, Carolyn F. Branch (Ernest) of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bernice W. Myrick (Garland), Elsie Clark and Mattie Fisher, all of Petersburg; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at the chapel of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg, with the Rev. John Winbush officiating. Interment will follow in Dinwiddie Memorial Park, Dinwiddie.
