Willie T. Allen Jr., 76, 7512 Chippokes Road, Spring Grove, Va., entered into eternal peace on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Va.
He was known as 'Junnie' by his family and friends. He had recently been living with his son and daughter-in-law at 1904 Powhatan Ave., Petersburg, Va.
Willie was born on July 9, 1937, son of the late Martha and Willie Allen Sr. He attended school in Prince George County and worked for Brandon Plantation until retirement. Willie joined Morning Star Baptist Church at an early age. Willie was known for his tough exterior under which was a kind and gentle soul; he had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others.
He is predeceased by his father, Willie Allen Sr.; mother, Martha Allen; and brother, Clarence Allen.
He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his devoted son, Gregory Allen Sr. (Linda), Petersburg, Va.; and daughter, Valerie Cooper (Eric), Cary, N.C.; sister, Mildred Holloway, Spring Grove, Va.; brothers, Lawrence Allen, Surry, Va., and Roger Allen (Patricia), Hopewell, Va.; an aunt, Isabel Ellis, Newport News, Va.;, grandchildren, Gregory Allen Jr., Philadelphia, Jordan Cooper and Joi Cooper, Cary, N.C., Antuane Vaughan (Sabrina), Greensboro, N.C.; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Homegoing services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Morning Star Baptist Church, 19121 Brandon Road, Spring Grove, Va. The pastor, the Rev. Dr. Robert L. Elliott Jr., will officiate. Interment will follow at church cemetery. The family will assemble noon at the home of his son, 1904 Powhatan Ave., Petersburg, Va., and may be contacted at 804-733-0816. Honorary and active pallbearers will assemble 12:30 p.m. at the church on day of service.
