Evelyn R. Quaye

Evelyn Remel Quaye, 38, of Chesterfield, Va., passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, of natural causes.

Evelyn was a popular artist and musician in the Richmond and Petersburg area.

Evelyn Remel is survived by her daughter, Anna Quaye of Chesterfield; and her mother, Dr. Judith Curry-El of Charlottesville, Va.; her sister, Salome Curry-El of Petersburg, Va.; and her two brothers, Robert (Boaz) Curry-El; her father, Robert John Curry-El Sr. of Cleveland, Ohio; and her stepfather, Leonard Stanley of Petersburg. Among many relatives, she leaves to mourn her loss, Remel Katherine and Philip Moore (aunt and uncle) of Canton, Ohio; a loving cousin, Paul Valentine of Cleveland, Ohio, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Evelyn Remel was known locally by many individuals. She performed civic volunteerism utilizing her artistic skills. She was well-known for her murals and portraits. As a singer she performed throughout the area, most recently with the King Edward and the BDs band, as well as two drumming circles. People knew her, enjoyed her talents and her company. Therefore, she leaves many friends who are saddened by her passing.

A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the chapel of William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home, Petersburg. Dr. James Logan, pastor of Kingdom Fellowship Christian Center, will officiate. All are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the service.
