Mr. Robert Lee "Bobby" Johnson of 1034 Magnolia St., Petersburg, Va., entered into eternal rest on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

Mr. Johnson was the second child born of three children to the late William J. and Mattie Sykes Johnson.

Mr. Johnson, a retired carpenter foreman (1948-1980) from Virginia State University, he was a loyal and dedicated member of Zion Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and served on the repast committee. He was a member of the Benedict Civic Club, Peabody Class of 1939 and faithfully served his country in the United States Army.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Nora Lee Mitchell Johnson; devoted nieces and nephews, Ruth Jones, Janice Brickell, Patricia Myers (Otha), Tanya Thompson (Mark Jr.), Gerald Mitchell (Patricia), Albert Mitchell (Sandra), Ricardo Sherrod (Doris), and Leon Sherrod (Arletta); devoted cousins and caregivers, Joan Walker, Muriel Spratley and Charles Mitchell (Willette); several great-nieces and great-nephews; a host of cousins and friends, among them lifelong friend, Elizabeth Trotter and family, caring and devoted neighbors, Irene Davis and Willie Parham and their families.

A funeral service for Mr. Robert L. Johnson will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Zion Baptist Church, 225 Byrne St., Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Dr. Archie German Sr., interim pastor, officiating, and the Rev. Dr. Andrew J. White Sr., pastor emeritus, eulogist. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
