Edith Morton Austin, born Dec. 29, 1931, went to be with her lord on Nov. 17, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John David Morton and Florence Williams Morton of Charlotte County, Va., and her great-grandson and angel, Trevor Scott Chaplin, of Dinwiddie, Va.

Edith was a devoted Christian at Kenwood United Methodist Church in North Dinwiddie County, Va., where she was a member of the Super Seniors Club. She retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Co. After her retirement, she cared and loved for those needing assistance with their health care as a licensed practical nurse. She had a lifelong love for antiques and caring for her fellow man. It was her mission in life to nurture and maintain family connections.

Edith leaves, to cherish her memory, her husband of 57 years, Henry "Tommy" Marvin Austin Sr.; her sister, Rachelle Newton of Chester, Va.; her best friend and sister-in-law, Joyce Morton of Dinwiddie County, Va.; her daughter, Cheryl Austin Scott and husband Ted. She leaves two sons, Henry "Buddy" Marvin Austin Jr and wife Tonya, and Nelson "David" Austin and wife Joanne. She leaves her grandchildren, Erica Scott Chaplin and husband Jason, Aaron Austin and wife Laura, Alexander Austin and wife Lindsey, Andrew "A. J." and fiancée Sarah Mitchell, Brant Underwood and fiancée Dana Labuskes, and Brandi Scott and fiancé Daniel Davis. She leaves the lights of her life, her great-grandchildren, Ayden Matthew Austin, Hunter Scott Chaplin and Raegan Sinclair Underwood. She leaves her puppy, Missy, and her grand-dog Bam. She leaves her dear friends, Sally Lloyd and Barbara Wyche. She leaves many close cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Memorial services will be held at Kenwood United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. Immediately following the service, the Compassion Committee of Kenwood United Methodist Church will host a reception for family and friends.
