Clarence Smith Horner, 84, of Hopewell, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013.

Mr. Horner was born in Crewe, Va., to the late Charles A. Sr. and PattySue Wray Horner. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Geraldine Bryant, Jo-Ann Blowe; brother, Charles A. Horner Jr. Mr. Horner retired from Firestone after 10 years of service. He attended Rivermont Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Horner is survived by his sisters, Inez Starke, Maryland Blanchard; brother, Paul Horner; long-time companion, Elizabeth Brinkley; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at the Hopewell chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Appomattox Cemetery. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
