Ms. Lena Marie Wyche Green of Jacksonville, N.C., Camp Lejuene, departed this life Friday, Jan. 31, 2014.

Lena was born in Oine, Warren County, N.C., on July 7, 1944, to the late Collie Wyche Sr. and Nellie Bullock Wyche.

She was preceded in death by: her brothers, Collie Wyche Jr., Joseph Nelson Wyche Sr., and Odell Wyche; a niece, Deborah Wyche; and a nephew, John Kelvin Smith.

Lena gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a golfer and a gardener. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and painting. She was the owner of Green's Cab Company in Jacksonville, N.C.

Her journey started in North Carolina to Virginia, to Tennessee to Chicago, to San Clemente, Calif., soon after to Panama City, Fla., and then back to Jacksonville, N.C., Camp Lejeune. Lena traveled to England, France, and went on many Caribbean cruises. Lena retired from the Marine Corps Camp Country Club, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Lena is survived by: her children, Steve Wyche, Jacksonville, N.C., and Elaine Ward (Robert) of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Shanelle and Mickail Wyche of Yucca Valley, Calif., Alex Ronguas of San Clemente, Calif., and Dominique Ward of Chesterfield; a brother, Nathaniel Wyche (Mary Jo) of Hammond, Ind.; sisters, Ruby Lingham and Ruth D. Smith, both of Petersburg, and Elsie Gholson (James) of Chesterfield; an ex-devoted husband, Thomas Green (Brenda) of Jacksonville, N.C.; best friend, Roland Frederick of Jacksonville, N.C.; sisters-in-law; Delores Wyche and Angela Wyche, both of Chicago, Ill., Annette Wyche of North Dinwiddie, and Cathy Green of Sacramento, Calif.; brothers-in-law, Rob and Chris Green, both of Sacramento, Calif.; devoted nephews, Michael Wyche, Keith Wyche, Nathaniel Wyche Jr., Brien Smith, Joseph Wyche Jr., and Carlos Wyche; devoted nieces, Bernice Griffin, Patrice Wyche, Loretha Crockett, Melinda Dufuchard, Belinda Spearman, Annette Smith-Lee, Joanne Haskins, Stephanie Brown, Donna Baker, Sharon Wyche, Annette Bruce, Pamela Wyche, Nellie Johnson, Leatha Thornhill, Maureen Smith-Scott, Yvette Griffin and Veronica Rivers; and a host of great-nieces; great-nephews; cousins; other relatives; and friends.

Services for Ms. Lena Marie Wyche Green will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg.
