Ms. Marria L. Reeves, 'Mamie,' 'Ree,' of 812 Pebble Court, Richmond, Va., formerly of Courtland, Va., passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at the VCU Medical Center, Richmond, Va.

Marria was born in Courtland, Va., to the late Richard Thomas Taylor and Alma Rawlings Taylor. She was educated in the Southampton County Public School System.
Mamie, as she was affectionately called, was baptized at an early age at the St. Luke Church of Christ. She was employed by Bakers Crust (Carytown location) in Richmond, Va.
Mamie was preceded in death by her father, Richard Thomas Taylor; maternal and paternal grandparents; brother, Barry L. Taylor; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Remembering her life and love are, her mother, Mrs. Alma Rawlings Taylor of Courtland, Va.; her sons, Jamarr and Marquest Hursey, both of Richmond, Va.; four brothers, Robert Taylor, Milton Taylor and Richard Taylor, all of Richmond, Va., and Lloyd Taylor of Courtland, Va.; two sisters, Elizabeth Rawlings of Newport News, Va., and Valerie Taylor of Richmond, Va.; two aunts, Clarice Warren of Sedley, Va., and Linia Griffin of Spring Grove, Va.; three uncles, Thomas Rawlings (Lucy) and Ilanders Rawlings, both of Suffolk, Va., and Martin Rawlings of Hampton, Va.; one devoted sister-in-law, Barbara Johnson; three nieces, Shene, Brandy and Essence; four nephews, Fabian, Julian, Milton Jr. and DeMarqus; six great-nieces; five great-nephews; and a host of other relatives, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Ms. Marria L. Reeves will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Union Hill United Church Of Christ, 16192 Union Hill Road, Sedley, VA 23878, with the Rev. Roy Stokes, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Freddie Hines eulogizing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Remains will lie in repose at the church from 11:45 a.m. until the hour of service.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, fat the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the mother's residence, 18258 Sandy Hill Road, Courtland, Va., and is asking that relatives and friends assemble at the residence on the day of services at 11:45 a.m.
