Ms. Joyce Dunlop Taylor, 87, of 7544 Woods Ridge Trace, Prince George, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 21, 2014, at Riverview on the Appomattox, Hopewell.

She was born Jan. 31, 1927. in St. Thomas, VI. to her parents, the late Cyril Dunlop and Laita Creque. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gwendolyn Dunlop.

Joyce graduated from the New York public school system. After school, she relocated to Virginia, where she worked in the Payroll Department at Virginia State University until her retirement.

She joined Mount Olivet Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the Pastor's Aide, choir member, volunteer for the Olivet Christian Academy, Welcome Committe and Senior Usher Board.

Left to cherish her memory are: her children, William "Sandy" L. Johnson (Shelia) of North Carolina, Sandra J. Pettaway (Larry) of New York, Toni Hartlove, Marcus Taylor (fiance' Jaime) and Anthony Taylor Sr. (Karen); grandchildren, Thea Pettaway, Thomas Hoffman, Montague Johnson, Monique Toolsie, Melissa Johnson, Lucruz Dunlop (Tsion), Tawanna Myles (Richard), Ciarra Taylor and Anthony Taylor Jr; 13 great-granchildren; host of other cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, 800 Augusta Ave., Petersburg, with the pastor, the Rev. Dr. Wesley K. McLaughlin, officiating. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery, Petersburg.

The family will assemble noon at the residence on day of service and may contact daughter, Karen Taylor, at 804-733-4931. There will be a wake 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, in the Petersburg Chapel.
