Mrs. Lula Mae Garrett Thomas, 97, departed this life on Monday, April 21, 2014, at her residence.

She was born March 1, 1917, to the late Percy and Ethel Garrett
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Thomas; and a loving daughter, Ethel M. Bolling; four brothers, Bob, Percy, Richard and Joe; and one sister, Bessie.
Lula Mae leaves behind to cherish her memories many beloved family and friends: a grandson, Anthony Bolling of Baltimore and his fiancée, Tasha; three great-grandsons, Tyrell Taylor, Jantel Matos and Sebastian Bolling; three sisters Carrie B. Dennis, Mammie Turner, both of Waverly, and Lucy Whittaker of Petersburg; host of nieces, great-nieces, great-great-nieces, cousins, nephews and so many other loved ones.

Funeral services will be held noon Friday, April 25, 2014, at the chapel of Williiam N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg; Bishop Claudine Lee, officiating. The interment will follow at Waverly Cemetery.
