Thelma Roberts Lewis, 88, of Chester, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014.

She was born May 15, 1925, to the late Robert Hudson Roberts and Maggie Green Roberts, and was the widow of Elwood Crouch and Thomas M. Lewis Sr. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur W. Roberts Sr. and Norman E. Roberts. Mrs. Lewis was a member of Ettrick United Methodist Church, and was a retired machine operator with the America Filtrona Co.

She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Lewis Ozmore of Chester; two sons, Thomas M. Lewis Jr. and Kenneth E. Lewis, both of Chester; a sister, Cecil Mae Edwards of Amelia; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. Charles Roberts officiating. Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 39 N.
