Hearts were saddened when Mrs. Isabelle Walker Banks answered the Master's call and went home to her heavenly rest on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at her residence. She was born in Dinwiddie, Va., on Oct. 30, 1916, the oldest of 11 siblings born to the late Ashton L. Walker Sr. and Maude Maclin Walker.

At an early age, she joined and was baptized at Zion Baptist Church under the pastoralship of J.D. Brown. She was educated in the Petersburg Public School System and attended D. Webster Davis School of Cosmetology. In her early adult life, Isabelle relocated to Washington D.C., where she met and married the late Thomas L. Banks. Upon her return to Petersburg, she enjoyed volunteer service at Southside Regional Medical Center, membership in the Happy Hour Senior Citizens Club, working on jig-saw puzzles, playing games on her computer, traveling, and cooking new recipes.
