Mr. James Douglas Richardson, "Lil James," of 2831 Rolyart Road, Petersburg, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Hopewell Health Care Center in Hopewell.

James was born on Dec. 26, 1963, in Sussex. He was educated in the Sussex County Public School System in Sussex. James was employed with Virginia Diner in Wakefield.

Lil James, as he was affectionately known, was preceded in death by his father, James Douglas, and his brothers, Eugene Richardson and Gregory Richardson.

James leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Mrs. Florence Wyche of Hopewell; his brother, Frankie Richardson of Hopewell; his sister, Angela Richardson of Hopewell; his aunts, one devoted, Evelyn Lewis of Petersburg, Joyce Ricks, Larose Moore, and Brenda Woodam, all of Richmond, Mittie Moore and Mary Moore, both of Philadelphia, and Ollie Colbert of Oklahoma; his uncles, Jerry Moore of Richmond, Joseph Moore of Philadelphia, Andrew Taylor, Johnnie Taylor and Ernest Taylor, all of Petersburg; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; and friends, one devoted, Wilson Taylor.

Funeral services for Mr. James D. Richardson will be held 12 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ, 233 Halifax St., Petersburg, Jeffrey L. Dodson Sr., pastor, Elder Ronald Lowery, Refreshing Streams Ministry, Petersburg, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, 319 S. Crater Road, Petersburg. Remains will rest at the church beginning at 11 a.m. on the day of the service.

Family and friends are asked to assemble at the residence of his sister, Ms. Angela Richardson, 1103 Winston Church Hill Drive, Hopewell, at 10:45 am on the day of the service.

Public viewing will be held today, Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Sunday, June 8, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 25824 Greensville Ave., Petersburg. Online condolences may be registered at www.jldodsonandsons.com.
