Mrs. Ianthia C. Turner departed this life Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Golden Living Center-Battlefield. She was the daughter of the late Eliza and Robert E. Clarke Jr.

Mrs. Turner was a native of Beavendan. She was a student of Armstrong High School, Richmond, and a graduate of Virginia State College, now university. She taught public school in Prince George County, Nottoway County and Beavendan.
Mrs. Turner was member of First Baptist Church, Harrison Street. She was on the deaconess board and a teacher for Sunday school, vacation Bible school and Bible study classes.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, John D. Turner Sr.; three sisters, Theresa C. Clarke, Mable C. Bridgeforth and Evelyn C. Foster; three brothers, Clay Clarke, Robert E. Clarke III and Thomas J. Clarke; and one granddaughter, Renita A. White.
She is survived by: a son, John D. Turner Jr. (Janet); three daughters, Ianthia T. Farmer of Illinois, Esther T. White (Raymond), Janeane T. Myles of Petersburg; several great- and great-great-grandchildren to include five devoted, Renard Turner (Chinet), J.D. Turner III, Lytanya White, Pedie W. Curry (Mike), Deante' and Javante Myles; host of nieces and nephews among three devoted, Loretta Edwards (Robert), Alma Sydnor (Carl) and Luther Boon (Lula); cousins; other relatives; and friends.
Celebration of life service for Mrs. Ianthia C. Turner will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at First Baptist Church, 236 Harrison St., Petersburg, the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Tillman, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park. The viewing hours will be 12 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2014.
