Diana Elizabeth (Hill) Jones (Di), age 67, of Wakefield, Va., entered into eternal rest on July 7, 2014, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Va.
She was born on April 19, 1947, in Southampton County, Va., to the late Elisha Perry and Mildred Sheridan Hill. She was a member of Zion Hill Holiness Church of Waverly, Va., and attended Sussex County Public Schools. Diana worked as a head chef at the Southeastern 4-H Conference Center for many years prior to her declining health which left her disabled.
Diana was an active participant in the community and served as a mayor council member of Wakefield, Va., where she advocated for better services and activities to support residents and visitors of the city.
She is survived by her two children, William H. Lankford Jr. and Lori A. Lankford; three grandchildren, J'Vion D. Lankford, Jayla D. Lankford and Ella D. Rigby; nine siblings, Patricia C. Hill (Bob), Gracie B. Hill, Edward J. Hill (Hope), Reginial F. Hill (Janice), all of Wakefield, Va., Margie D. Brandon and Elisha P. Hill III (Christine), all of Waverly, Va., Mildred O. Taylor (Wilson Sr.) of Petersburg, Va., Pastor Joseph L. Hill (Pastor Debra) of Suffolk, Va., and Constance S. Jones of Upper Marlboro, Md.; 22 nieces and nephews; 36 great-nieces and nephews; and four great-great-nieces and nephews; a host of cousins, too numerous to name; and Queen Jones (a sister in the spirit as confirmed in the Lord).
Funeral service for Ms. Jones will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Empowerment Temple Holiness Church, Waverly, Va.; the Rev. Terrence Green. Interment will follow at Zion Hill Holiness Church, Waverly, Va.
