On Saturday morning, July 12, 2014, God saw favor in one of his children, and called him home to be with him, our beloved Deacon Robert Lee Griffin, 75, of 20521 McKenney Hwy., Stony Creek, Va. He was born Feb. 9, 1939, to the late William and Lucy King Griffin. Robert confessed Christ as his savior at an early age, and became a member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church, McKenney, Va., where he served for several years as a Sunday School superintendent and as a deacon for many years. Robert was a former employee of Brown and Williamson, Brenco, and Dinwiddie County Public Service.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife six months ago, Alice; a son, Rondrell Griffin; and three siblings, George William, John and Lawrence.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted brother and sister-in-law, Deacon Charlie and Deaconess Dixie Griffin of Stony Creek; a loving and devoted sister, Mae G. Johnson of Stony Creek; a loving and devoted sister, Edith Ann King of Ford; sisters-in-law, Emma Griffin of Stony Creek, Alma Sue Flowers of Stony Creek, and Louise Hill of Jarratt; brother-in-law, John T. Hall; several nieces; nephews, one devoted, McDonald Griffin; a host of cousins; and caring friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Rocky Mount Baptist Church, McKenney, with the pastor, the Rev. Carlos Jordan, officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Please omit all food items.
The family would like to thank Colonial Heights Rehab, Southside Regional Medical Center, and the staff of Medi Home Health and Hospice.
