Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. Mr. Jerome Ware, "Hawk", of 1358 Rome St., Petersburg, Va., entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 14, 2014. He was born in Washington, D.C., to the late Joe and Ruby Ware, but lived in Greenville, S.C., most of his life.

During his life, he worked at the Super Eight Grocery Store, the Marriott Hotel and at Virginia State University. He later worked at and retired from the Steel Mill Plant of Greenville, S.C. Jerome was a former member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Simpsonville, S.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Joe Ware and Mrs. Ruby Ware; his sisters, Bette Jean Cole and Joann Wallace; niece, Wakina Griffin; and brother-in-law, Samuel Holloway.

Jerome will be missed and remembered by his sister, Sandra Anderson of Petersburg, Va.; two brothers-in-law, James E. Cole of Petersburg, Va. and Johnny Wallace of Greenville, S.C.; nephews, the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Martin (Tammie), Dwight Hudgens (Mary), the Rev. Kelly Martin (Niaretta), and Arthur Ware; nieces, Jacqueline Miller (James), Candy Williams, and Tammy Holloway; two devoted cousins, Linda Drummond and Sandra Gordon of Simpsonville, S.C.; one devoted great-niece, Keisha Flowers; devoted family and friends, William Henry Cole, and Christopher Cole of Petersburg, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Snowball and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sullivan of Greenville, S.C., and numerous cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Jerome Ware will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ, 233 Halifax St., Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Jeffrey L. Dodson Sr., pastor; the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Martin, eulogist and Evangelist Tammie Martin, officiating. Interment will follow in the Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va. Remains will rest at the church beginning one hour prior to the service. On the day of the service, the family is asked to assemble at 1:45 p.m., at the residence of the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Martin, 4309 Chesdin Blvd., Sutherland, Va.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment. The family is receiving friends at the residence of Sandra Anderson (sister), 527 Pegram St., Petersburg, Va., and may be reached at 804-835-9517 and 804-732-7504.
