Our hearts were saddened when Mrs. Edith "Jean" Louise Johnson, 73, of Petersburg, answered the Master's call and went home to her heavenly rest on Thursday, July 24, 2014.

Mrs. Edith Johnson was born March 12, 1941, to the late Lillian Harris and Alexander "Nookie" Harris. She was educated in the Petersburg Public School System.
She retired from Bellwood after years of service and was a licensed cosmetologist.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Darrell Johnson and Donald Harris; brother, Alton Harris.
Edith is survived by her son, Antonio Johnson; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Johnson; granddaughter, Cierra Nicole Johnson; brother, Alexander Harris (Clotie); sisters-in-law, Leola and Justine Harris; half-sisters, Alexis Jones and Edora Pitt; uncle, Lloyd Harley (Beulah); nephews, Michael, Bennie, Alton and James Harris; cousins, Aubrey Harley, Aubrey Harley Jr., Elaine Powell (Joseph), Reston Powell, Gary Harley, Rodrick Harley, Jerome Harley, Catherine Humphrey and Lorraine Rich; and host of other relatives and friends, among them to include devoted friends Sylvia Poindexter, Dorothy Blount, Ramona Gray Carlos Lamb and Addie Howard.
Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Johnson will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the chapel of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home; the Rev. Dr. Joseph Powell, pastor, Covenant Life House Ministries, Severn, Md., officiating. Interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
The family will be assembling noon at 214 Elm St., Petersburg, on the day of service.
