Mary was gainfully employed at Honeywell Corp. (formerly Allied Chemical Corp.) and retired with many active years of faithful service.
Mary was an avid shopper who also enjoyed reading her Bible, gardening and spending precious time with her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. We will dearly miss her presence here among us, but thanks be to God, her soul is now present with the Lord!
Mary leaves to cherish her precious memory a loving and devoted husband, Algernon Cooper Sr.; four loving sons, Michael Jones (Valerie), Daryl Jones, Morris Eugene Hayes (Daphne) and Andre Hayes Sr. (Marquis); three stepchildren, Daniel Smith (Alana), Algernon Cooper Jr. and Logan D. Cooper; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Kate Crawley (Michael); sisters-in-law, Marjorie Peterson (William), Linda Stewart (deceased Louis), Debra Bilal (Dawud), Beonca Taylor (Anthony) and Renee Wimberley; brothers-in-law, Dwayne Cooper and Rudy Cooper (Marion); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, in the Chapel of the J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Vincent T. Williams Sr. officiating. Interment will be at Southlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Petersburg, Va.
The family will receive friends at 2712 Tinstree Drive, South Chesterfield, VA 23836.
