Irene Piotrowski Walker, 90, of Dinwiddie, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at the Dinwiddie Health Care Center.

She was born Sept. 23, 1923, to the late Frank and Bertha Rycz Piotrowski, and was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James C. Walker. Irene was a United States Navy veteran, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Petersburg.
She is survived by two sons, James C. Walker Jr. and wife, Dr. Donna Toliver, of Sutherland, and Martin W. Walker and wife, Michelle, of Gloucester; three daughters, Gloria C. Smith and husband, Carl, of Ripplemeade, Va., Joan W. Lang and fiancé, Tommy Owen, of Dinwiddie, and Linda L. Ford and husband, Gordon, of Dinwiddie; a brother, Frank Piotrowski of Dinwiddie; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a devoted caregiver, Lucy.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 151 W. Washington St., Petersburg, VA 23803. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.
