Mrs. Jacquelyn Favors Urquhart Woods, of 406 Clinton St., Petersburg, Va., departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at her residence.

She was born in Atlanta on June 2, 1935, to the late Rev. Melvin Henderson and Mabel Tucker Henderson Brown. She was married to the late Joe W. Favors and Mark E. Urquhart Jr. She leaves to cherish in memory her loving and devoted husband, James D. Woods, affectionately known as "Bubba."
At an early age she joined the Shiloh Baptist Church in College Park, Ga., where she was a member of the H.T. Thomas Choir. She was a member of the VFW Post #1490 in Petersburg, Va.
She graduated from the Carver Vocational High School and Atlanta School of Business. She moved to Petersburg, Va., in October 1965, where she attended Petersburg School of Practical Nursing and later attended John Tyler Community College.
She retired from Central State Hospital in Petersburg, Va., and Care Advantage in Colonial Heights, Va., where she worked as a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
She was preceded in death by her three children, Quanstera Favors, Linda W. Bolton (Danny) and Joe A. Favors; her sisters, Kathleen and Gwendolyn; and a brother, Clinton "Timmy."
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Mable H. Brown; granddaughters, Shonika Bankole (David) of Charlotte, N.C., LaTisha Robinson of Petersburg, Va., and Danielle Bolton of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Aniya and Amari Robinson, Akintayo, Yewande and Olumide Bankole; sisters, Sylvia Bowen of Atlanta, Wilma Lovelace (Albert) of Douglasville, Ga., Boyce Davidson (Joe), Wanda Mitchell (Sylvester), Pamela Hampton (Larry) and Cherry Tanner of Atlanta; a brother, Melvin T. "Emanuel" Henderson of Atlanta; devoted niece, Lyshenna Johnson (William); a loyal daughter, Mary McKeever; special family friends, Leroy Winfield and Francena Reed; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Services for Mrs. Jacquelyn U. Woods will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va.; Pastor Danny Bolton, eulogist. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
Honorary and active pallbearers are asked to assemble 2:30 p.m. at the funeral establishment.
