M. Aaron Joyner, 85, of Disputanta, passed away on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at his residence. He was born May 29, 1929, to the late Aaron P. and Mamie Mae Podruchny Joyner, and was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ford Joyner.

Mr. Joyner was a United States Army veteran, and a member of the Petersburg Seventh Day Adventist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Shirley A. Tapp and husband, David; sons, Robert and Joey Joyner; a brother, Joseph R. Joyner; sisters, Agnes Wolosuk, Catherine Murphy, Florence Nugent, Mary Conner, and Carolyn Heartwell; numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Road, Prince George, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road.
