Alberta P. Hines, of Emporia, Va., transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011.

Born on Sept. 9, 1931, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Raised in Emporia, Va., she was reared and worked in the Greensville County School System for 30 years. She was a long-term member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ of Emporia, Va.

The body may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Knox High Funeral Home, Halifax Street, Emporia. A homegoing service is scheduled for noon Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at St. Paul Church of God in Christ, 294 Lowground Road, Emporia, VA 23847. Interment will be in Greensville Memorial Cemetery, Emporia. Remains will rest at the church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Relatives and friends will assemble at the residence, 159 Slagle Lake Road, Emporia, at 11 a.m. on the day of the service.

She is survived by her children, Glenda Coleman, Juanita Thomas, Deborah Jones, Carlotta Pyant and Mark Hines, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Remains may be viewed at Knox High Funeral Home, Halifax Street, Emporia, Va. Remains rest at Tucker's Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, Va.
