On Sunday, March 13, 2011, God in His infinite wisdom, called home one of his own, Nathaniel "Nick" Williams, 66, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

He was born Oct. 9, 1944, in Sussex County to the late Rufus Williams Sr. and Amanda T. Williams. He received his formal education in Sussex/Newville Public School. He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at an early age and was a life member of the Wilborne Baptist Church, Waverly, Va. He was dedicated to his church and attended various activities. He was a member of the male chorus. He was employed with Burrow Logging Co. in Prince George for 15-plus years and 30-plus years with Evan Lumber Co., Waverly, Va. Nick, as he was known by family and friends, was a country boy that loved life and showed love to all.
He leaves to cherish his memory, former wife, Delores B. Williams; three daughters, Connie Giles, Petersburg, Va., Renee Williams, Waverly, Va., and Candice Jones, Spring Grove, Va.; three grandsons, Robert Giles, Keyshawn Giles and Ra'Shard Harris; four brothers, Rufus Williams Jr. (Ann) Wallace Williams, Arthur Williams and Melvin Williams; two sisters, Cora Williams (James Edward) and Annie Jones (Joseph); a host of nieces, nephews, one devoted nephew, Theodore Williams Jr., cousins, friends at Waverly Village, and Doreen Page.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday at the Wilborne Baptist Church, Waverly, Va., with the Rev. Clarence M. Thweatt Jr., pastor, officiating. Interment in Wilborne Baptist Church Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday at Peace-Bland Funeral Home, Waverly, Va. Family and friends will assemble at 11:15 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Renee Williams, 8141 General Mahone Highway, Waverly, on the day of service. Services entrusted to Peace-Bland Funeral Home, Waverly, Va.
