Ms. Valerie Celestine Moore (Cakie), 56, of 21026 Denbigh St., McKenney, departed this life on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond.

She was born June 6, 1955, to the late Junius Moore Sr. and Adelaide Stewart Moore. Valerie graduated from Dinwiddie County High School in 1973.
She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Dinwiddie (Darsville).
Valerie was preceded in death by her devoted brother, Ronnie Moore.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two brothers, Junius Moore (Jennifer) of Chesterfield and Douglas Moore (Jeanette) of Dinwiddie; devoted sister-in-law, Georgia C. Moore of Petersburg; a devoted uncle, Simone Stewart (Lillian); uncles, Robert Moore of New York and Royster Steward; aunts, Ivory Stewart of South Carolina, Catherine Moore of Dinwiddie and Mary Lee of DeWitt; four nieces; three nephews; four great-nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends, among them devoted friends, Connie Graine, Rachel Wyatt, Sandra Taylor and Joyce Weaver.
A service of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at the chapel of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg. The Rev. William N. Bland Jr., pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church, Petersburg, will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 on Wednesday evening at the chapel of William N. Bland & Son, Petersburg. The family is asked to assemble at 12:30 p.m. on the day of the service at the funeral home.
