Mr. Eddie (Manny) Lee Jones Sr., 79, of 9115 Golf Course Road, Disputanta, entered eternal rest on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.

He was born June 30, 1932, to the late Eddie L. Jones and Etta Thomas Jones. Preceding him in death were: his three brothers, Johnny, Mack and Charlie; three sisters, Lilly Barbour, Versie Price and Louise Washington; and one daughter, Margaret Jones.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Disputanta, where he served on the Usher Board. He loved his family and had a devotion and passion for his truck business. His favorite saying was "got to go." No matter how tough things got he never complained, but he enjoyed life and will surely be missed by all.

Surviving are: a devoted and beloved wife of 58 years, Shirley Mae Jones; two daughters, Ann Jones (Clarence) and Bertha Jones, both of Hopewell; seven sons, Eddie L. Jones Jr. (Yolanda), Christopher Jones of Disputanta, Calvin Jones of Prince George, Ronnie Jones (Monica), Timothy Jones of Petersburg, Irvin Jones (Juanita) and Mark Jones of Hopewell; three brothers-in-law, Frank Jackson (Belinda) of Upper Marlboro, Md., Tyrone Jackson (Gail) of Spring Grove and Charles Jackson of Disputanta; three sisters-in-law, Nannie Adkins of Disputanta, Evelyn (Meg) Henderson of Prince George and Leslie Fields (Henry) of Clinton, Md.; daughter-in-law, Juanita Jones of Prince George; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; host of nieces, among them a devoted niece, Francis Blackwell; nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Disputanta, with Dr. J. Alfred Reid officiating. The family will assemble one hour prior to service at the residence.

The family will receive friends at the chapel of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg, from 7 to 8 Thursday evening, Feb. 9, 2012.
