Miss Ashley Nicole Walker fondly known as "Ash" of 2000 Saint Thomas Road, Hopewell, VA 23860 departed this life on Wednesday, June 13, 2012.

Ashley had an infectious personality and a kind and giving spirit. She was truly a blessing to all she met and never knew a stranger.

Ashley was born on Jan. 3, 1986 to Harold W. Walker and Barbara L. Walker, and was the middle of three children. She attended Dinwiddie County schools and was a graduate in 2004. Ashley was an active participant in the Special Olympics and performed exceptionally well in track and field — winning several gold medals.

Ashley was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church and faithfully served on the Usher Board. She enjoyed being around family, especially children, loved animals and making others laugh. Singing, dancing, listening to music, shopping, and socializing were among the many things she enjoyed. She loved to do art projects, bowl, and play card games with her family.

She is preceded in death by her great-grandmothers Martha Taylor and Rosa Walker; grandfather, Lawrence Johnson; uncle, Peter Roney; and an aunt, Shirley Thorne. She was also preceded in death by a great-uncle and aunt, William and Deloris Walker
