He brought joy to the children of the Bahamas by playing Santa Claus at Christmastime. He helped start the Anglican Church of the Epiphany in Nassau, where his funeral was held Nov. 14.
George was educated in the public schools of Petersburg and at Woodberry Forest. He graduated from the University of Richmond in 1960 with a degree in chemistry.
