Charles (Chuck) Sherman, 73, born in Canonsburg, Pa., and residing in Hopewell, Va., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, after a courageous battle with multiple cancers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin L. and Sara J. Sherman; and two younger siblings, Michael W. and Bonnie Sherman.
Chuck proudly retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years of service. He served two tours in Vietnam, three assignments to Germany, and several stateside. Chuck continued his career with LMR Inc. and after his retirement pursued his love of taxidermy. He was a passionate hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed the outdoors. Chuck was a DGIF Volunteer Hunter Safety Instructor for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Anne; son, Charles Roger Sherman and his wife, Gloria and his "most favorite" granddaughter, Kaitlyn; two brothers, Edwin Sherman and his wife, Marilyn, and David Sherman and his wife, Joanne; sister-in-law, Barbara Sherman; a host of devoted nieces and nephews and their families; many dear friends and neighbors; and his extended family in Germany.
The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. following the visitation in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be at his request in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
