Mrs. Jantell Yates Grandison, "Jane", entered into eternal rest and peace Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

Jantell was a native of Dinwiddie County and the daughter of the late Robert and Estelle White Yates; and the widow of Telfer Grandison. She graduated from Dinwiddie Training School, class of 1946. At an early age she confessed Christ and joined the Mount Level Baptist Church, Dinwiddie and later moved her membership to Little Bethel Baptist Church to be with her husband and children, where she attended faithfully and served on the Missionary Circle.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Courtland, Clyde Lee, Lewellyn, Roger, Robert, and John Yates; and three sisters; Ethel Bolling, Polly Flowers, and Sindabell Roney.

She leaves to cherish a legacy of memories: three daughters; Dorothy Pegrem (Leon), Annie Evone Tucker (Gerald) of Stony Creek, and Constance G. Ricks of Macon, Ga.; a son, Telfer Tyrone Grandison (Charlotte) of Dinwiddie; seven grandchildren, Shawn Tucker and Maurice Grandison of Atlanta, Ga., Cory Tucker of Stony Creek, Charone Grandison of Petersburg, Carmen Grandison of Colonial Heights, Alphonso L. Ricks II of Macon, Ga., and Brandon L. Pegram of Cumberland, Md.; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Herlene Flowers of Stony Creek, Ruth Yates and Della Grandison of Dinwiddie, and Barbara Grandison of New York; numerous nieces and nephews, one devoted, Kenneth Yates; cousins, many devoted friends and her caregivers, Dorothy Branch, Cynthia Davis and Rosalind Sheppard.

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at the Little Bethel Baptist Church, Stony Creek, with the pastor, Rev. David L. Banks Sr., officiating. Burial will be in the Dinwiddie Memorial Park Cemetery. The Family will receive their relatives and friends at the residence, 22303 McKenney Hwy, Stony Creek, and can be contacted at 434-246-9290. Mrs. Grandison may be viewed on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
