Mr. Pleasant Turner, "Plummy," 83, formerly of Disputanta, Va., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Waverly Healthcare Center, Waverly, Va. He was a native of Prince George County, born on Dec. 18, 1929, to the late Isaiah and Lucille Hunt Turner.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Wallace and Bermond Turner; sisters, Leola Holloway, Martha Epps and Bertha Brown. At an early age, he confessed Christ and joined Union Baptist Church, Surry, Va. He was a former employee of Calvin Clements and Milton Wooden. Pleasant loved hunting and gardening.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted brother, Lindville Turner Sr. (Lucille) of Disputanta; devoted sisters, Bessie Jones and Pauline Raines of Disputanta, Dora Hill of New York and Queen Capers of Randalltown, Md.; a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends, among the devoted nieces, Queen Turner and Margaret Jones; friends, Milton Wooden and George Mickey Jones. The family also wishes to thank the staff of Waverly Healthcare Center.

A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, from the Chapel of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, 137 Harrison St., Petersburg, with the Rev. Clarence Thweatt, pastor of Wilborne Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Church, Spring Grove, Va. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the home of his brother, Lindville Turner Sr., 11518 Hitchcock Road, Disputanta, Va., at 12 p.m. the day of the service. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the residence of his brother, Lindville (Lucille) of Disputanta, and may be contacted at 804-991-2274 or 991-2410 and also at the niece, Queen 804-863–2695 or 804-720-1075.
