Mrs. Countis Collins Williams departed her Earthly life on the evening of Friday, May 3, 2013, at Lucy Corr Village in Chesterfield, Va.

Countis, formerly of 500 Farmer St., was the youngest daughter of the late Huey and Bertha Collins. She was born on Aug. 11, 1936, in Selma, Ala. She graduated from R.B. Hudson High School in Selma, Ala., and attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tenn.
She moved to Petersburg, Va. at an early age. She was employed by Wice's (women's clothing boutique) for most of her career. Having accepted Christ in her youth, she later became a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland O. Williams; her first husband, Charles A. Williams; a daughter, Debra A. Williams; and several close friends.
Countis loved life and lived life to the fullest. She loved playing cards, traveling, the casinos and most of all, cooking and baking. She loved people. She was especially fond of her grandchildren, both biological and adopted. She had an aura about her. Her charming and outgoing personality drew so many people into her life, both young and old.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Trittye C. Fugett (Anthony) of Owings Mills, Md., and Rita D. Threatt (Keith) of Ettrick, Va.; and one son, Charles L. Williams of Petersburg, Va.; two sisters, Wenona C. Thomas of Owings Mills, Md., and Jean C. Harrison of Claremont, Calif. Countis had several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. She had an extended family that loved and cared for her dearly.
The family is grateful to the staff of Riverside Pace, Lucy Corr Village, Liberty Dialysis Center, Davita Dialysis Center, and Tabernacle Baptist Church Hospital Visitation and Senior Ministry.
A funeral service for Mrs. Countis Collins Williams will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax St., Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs Sr., pastor, eulogist. The interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the funeral establishment.
