Mrs. Barbara J. Eppes Brown, 57, of Dinwiddie County, departed this life suddenly on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.

She was the daughter of the late Frank and Daisy Eppes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lewis Campbell and Milton Eppes.

Barbara was employed at Southside Virginia Training Center for over 34 years as an administrative professional. Along with her professional career, she enjoyed spending time in her garden, planting and nurturing her flowers to include: her favorite the yellow rose.

At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and was baptized at the New Popular Mount Baptist Church in Crewe. She later became a faithful member of First Baptist Church, West Petersburg, where she served as a Bible study teacher and a member of the women's ministry.

Those left to share her memories are: her husband, Gregory A. Brown; one daughter, BreAnna J. Brown; six sisters, Annie Lucille Eppes of Crewe, Erma E. Spicely of Wilsons, Daisy E. Taylor of Prince George, Sarah E. Price of Blackstone, Shirley E. Robertson (Samuel) and Mary E. Anderson (Vincent), both of Crewe,; one brother, Frank E. Eppes, Jr. (Patricia) of Burkeville; mother-in-law, Winifred Russell; father-in-law, Raleigh Brown; three sisters-in-law, Stephanie Greene (William), Sylvia Brown, and Cecilia Lee; one brother-in-law, Roger Gholson (Laura); goddaughter, Tawnya Eppes; eight aunts; three uncles; dearest friendships, Brendadine Lewis, Mary Ann Halfacre, Ella Baskerville, Estelle Spratley, Margaret Miller and Francine Walker, and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

A funeral service for Mrs. Barbara E. Brown will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax St., Petersburg, the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs Sr., pastor and the Rev. Dr. Peter R. Jeffrey, pastor of First Baptist Church-West Petersburg, eulogist. Interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
