Dorothy Gregory Crowder of Colonial Heights died on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013. She was a native of Chase City. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, where she proudly sung in the Highest Praise Choir. She was a 60-year charter member and past matron of Chase City Chapter #147 Order of the Eastern Star. She was appointed grand electa, 1983-1984, and was appointed grand representative to Puerto Rico, 2001-2003, by the Grand Chapter of Virginia Order of the Eastern Star.

She was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
She is survived by: her husband, Harold A. Crowder; sisters, Elizabeth G. Inge of Madison Heights, Shirlee G. Seligman of Richmond; a brother, Harold Gregory of Skipwith; three nieces; and two nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Ave., Colonial Heights, with the Rev. Dr. Andy Brockelman and the Reverend Wayne Johnson officiating.
Entombment will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, in Woodlawn Cemetery, Chase City. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
