Ms. Helen Brown, 89, of 1840 Oakland St., Petersburg, entered into eternal rest Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Hopewell Health Care Center, Hopewell.

She was born on Sept. 16, 1924, and was baptized at an early age. She was educated in the Petersburg Public School System. Helen was a former member of First Ebenezer Baptist Church, 12 Eastover Ave. Petersburg.
She was preceded in death by: her sister, Maranda B. Bailey; a brother, Robert Lee Brown; and a nephew, James C. "Bubbe" Bailey.
Ms. Brown retired from Southside Regional Medical Center, formerly Petersburg General Hospital, with 35 plus years of service.
She is survived by: two nieces, Lauretta Bailey Cutler-Bradshaw of Petersburg, and LaVern Brown of Charlotte, N.C.; four nephews, Osborne K. Bailey of Colonial Heights, Raymond L. Bailey (Irene) and T.L. Bailey (Carmencita), both of Petersburg, and Bunny Bailey of Hopewell; 15 great-nieces; 15 great-nephews; and a host of great-great-nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends to include, two devoted, Mr. Ernest Fultz and Mrs. Cunningham, both of Petersburg.

A funeral service for Miss Helen Brown will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, the Rev. Dr. Andrew J. White Sr., pastor, eulogist. The interment to follow at Blandford Cemetery.
