Bernard Emanuel Eanes, 71, of Edenton, N.C., died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013.

A native of Petersburg, Mr. Eanes was born Feb. 22, 1942, to the late Berry Joseph Eanes and the late Mary Ellen Walker Eanes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Joe Ellen Eanes Henshaw, Jenny Ruth Clements and Florence Ann Burton.
He is survived by: his wife, Phyllis Outlaw Eanes; daughter, Stella Eanes Mayton; son, Bernard E. Eanes Jr.; brother, William Henderson Eanes; grandchildren, Kimberly Brooke Davis Vanlandingham and husband, Kyle, and Jacob Lloyd Davis and wife, Jessica; great-granddaughter, Kaydie Brooke Vanlandingham; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Mr. Eanes worked as a draftsman with Carter Iron & Steel. He enjoyed fishing, bird hunting and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 9227 River Road.
