Eric Norvin Wilkins Jr., affectionately known by his mom as "Du" was born on May 30, 1991, in Washington D.C., to the proud parents of Jessica Thomas and Eric Wilkins Sr. Eric departed on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013. His parents were his greatest inspiration.
The Guest Book is expired.
Eric was an incredible, strong, loving and sweet young man. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved times with his Aunt Tawanna in Maryland and Lisa of Washington D.C., whom he considered as his second mother. Eric never missed a day talking to his cousin, William (Will), who was his "right hand man".
Eric attended school in the county of Brunswick and the city of Hopewell. He graduated from Hopewell High School in June 2009 and attended Virginia State University majoring in Mass Communication expecting to graduate in 2014.
Eric was a "dreamer" and a "go getter". He was a successful young entrepreneur. In 2011, he partnered with friends to establish Paid In Full Records LLC (PIFA). Eric enjoyed time in the studio creating and developing soundtracks. Eric was a creator of art as he expressed creativity through typography, visual arts and music for his promotional arrangements most recent "Give Me Room." One of his favorite sayings was "we're going in the booth to lay some tracks." He designed his own shirts advertising his record label, PIFA.
Eric leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted mother, Jessica Thomas; father, Eric Wilkins Sr.; stepdad, John Maddox; sisters, Erica and Erin; brothers, Deric and Derin; goddaughter, Iyana Taper; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services for Eric N. Wilkins Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 2223 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Jeffrey L. Reaves Sr., pastor, and Pastor Vickie C. Gray, eulogist.
