Ms. Julia L. Lewis, of Sussex Drive, Waverly, Va., departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, Va.

Julia was born on April 4, 1943, to the late William and the late Nellie Hinton. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Henry W. Lewis Sr.; and brother, Walter Hinton Sr.
She was a devoted church mother to Rhema Word Ministries in Petersburg, Va. Her warm spirit that touched the hearts of many will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving and devoted daughter, Jacqueline Penn (Jerome); two devoted sons, Henry Lewis Jr. (Tara) and Bishop Shawn Lewis Sr. (Shelley); one stepson, Marvin Hill (Karmon); nine grandchildren, Janelle, Jordan, and Jamar Penn, Shawn Jr. and Christian Lewis, Thomas Hall, John Holleman III, Marcus and Martin Hill; two sisters, Mildred Stringfield and Linda Brown (Raymond); three brothers, Lacy Hinton Sr. (Ruth), William Hinton Sr. (Elma), and James Hinton (Josephine); four aunts, Ruby Turner, Francis Patterson (Warren), Virginia Brown (Charlie), Erlene Brown; three brothers-in-law, McKinley, Ernest (Martha) and John Lewis; three sisters-in-law, Ruby Burgess, Estelle Lewis and Shirley Ann Newby (Columbus); two goddaughters, Earnestine Minor (Reginald) and Demetress Stringfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Julia L. Lewis will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at the Rose of Sharon Church, 429 Elm St., Waverly, Va. Interment will follow at the Waverly Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg.
