Aunt Carol's food for the soul
by Lawrence Gholson II

Family, if we'd only listen from our hearts, then we will see
God's assignment for Aunt Carol- in this, our family

a sign- a sound- with a heart that genuinely cared
"are you ok brah-n-law? it g'on be alright sis -neice-nephew-
Just call my name- and I'll be there..."

A Psalms 91 saint- Virtuous Woman without a doubt; thank God He blessed us with her
to show compassion (what family's about)

...
she left us all a gift
Memories so deep inside
this time it's us who fix the meals
-that's what you do when you've been served by the wise-

Ya know what she gave me?
a wisdom to accept grace
Ya know how she gave it?
she wrapped it up in faith
-then she placed it in the oven
with a temperature just right-
watching over it so closely
Aunties cooking became a "light"

marinated in God's love, seasoned by His embrace
Aunt Carol cooked from the heart
don't let that heartbeat go to waste

She's more than soul food
she's more than enough
as if Jesus Himself at her mac-n-cheese
- Aunt Carol fed all of us!

So what do yo do now?
well, you walk in that grace
You touch people's lives
...YOU become that "light" to embrace-

that one who is hurting, that one who may be in need
Cook a meal- not because they're hungry
But because Aunt Carol first sowed this seed.

We love you family "always"

No words can express sorrow that I feel for your loss. I would see Mrs. Gholson making her rounds here at Fort Lee; she was always a true blessing and touched of all of hearts with her words of wisdom. Friday were especially special for me, she would always say “thank the lord for all of his days, especially Friday”. Mrs. Gholson will be missed but her memories will live with me forever.
