Richard Anderson Obituary

ANDERSON, RICHARD W. , CMC, 71 of East Green- wich, passed away at his home on September 1, 2013 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Deborah (Boyle) Anderson. Born in Providence, he was the son of Emily (Pfuhler) Anderson and the late Randolph Anderson. Before his illness, Richard was a self-employed Certified Management Consultant and registered Professional Engineer. He helped multinational firms improve the efficiency of their manufacturing operations. Richard was highly sought after for his expertise in such major industries as pharmaceuticals, plastics, and utilities. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and from Bryant University with a Masters degree in Business Administration. He was a member of the Institute of Management Consultants as well as the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Richard was a decorated Vietnam veteran who served with the US Army 1st Infantry Division, Combat Engineers. As an avid sailor, he was a member of the East Greenwich Yacht Club for almost 60 years. During this period he served as a board member and secretary for over 24 years. He also enjoyed skiing, jogging, photography, family genealogy and woodworking. Besides his loving wife of over 35 years, he leaves a son, Erik, daughter-in-law Anita and grandchild Melissa Jane Anderson of Braunschweig, Germany. He was the brother of Robert Anderson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Charles Anderson of Saunderstown, RI, Barbara Carvey of Bedford, MA and Susan Anderson of Rehoboth, MA. Richard had a special love for his Labrador Retrievers (Brita and Greta) and most recently his Labradoodle, Missy-Ingrid. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 6 pm in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home 142 Centerville Rd., Warwick. His funeral service and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Richard's memory to the: John Grandin International Engineering Program Endowment, URI Foundation 79 Upper College Rd. Richard was one of the people that made America great. I was proud to know him and I'm sure he will be missed by all who met him. I am truly sorry to hear of his passing before his time.
